Start here

Do session one.
Then stop.

The whole plan is five short sessions, but they are not a checklist you have to finish. Each one is a complete week of posting on its own. Film the first, put the phone down, and September 22 happens whether or not you ever film another thing.

Session 1
about 15 min
Buys you
a full week
All five
about 70 min
Required
session 1 only

Before any of them: set the phone up once

Ten minutes, and you never touch it again all day. Do not film anything yet.

Camera
Phone, vertical 9:16, rear camera. 4K 30fps if offered.
Height
Lens at YOUR EYE LEVEL. Not below. A low angle reads as a webcam.
Framing
Chest up. Your eyes about a third down the frame.
Distance
Arm's length plus a foot. Close enough to be talking to one person.
Background
Real and yours. Depth behind you, never a flat wall.
Light
Window at 45 degrees to your face, never behind you.
Audio
Quiet room. No TV, no HVAC, no open window onto a street.
Phone
Airplane mode. One notification chime ruins a take.

Then shoot one throwaway take and watch it back. Say anything. Check you can hear yourself clearly and your eyes are not in shadow. Delete it. That test is the only thing standing between you and re-filming everything.

Your office, specifically

From the test frame on September 14. Not general advice, notes on your actual room.

KEEP
The shelf is your best asset
The CHIP MC plate and the Rockstar Award are right there, unexplained. Credibility a viewer notices on their own beats credibility you point at. Turn so that shelf is over your shoulder instead of cropped off the edge.
CHANGE
The clock has to go
Thirteen takes filmed in one sitting post across five different days, and every one of them shows the same time. Session two is filmed on another Monday and the clock jumps. It quietly says "these were all made at once", which is the opposite of the whole idea. Turn away from it, or take it down for the shoot.
CHANGE
Plain shirt, no wordmark
The AMC logo sits dead centre and advertises a cinema chain. It also makes each session instantly identifiable, which works against the three-shirt plan. Solid colour, no text.
CHANGE
Less headroom
There is a lot of empty wall above you. Raise the frame so your eyes sit about a third down rather than halfway. That one change is the difference between composed and snapped.
CHANGE
Glasses off the collar
They sit mid-chest, catch the light and pull the eye down away from your face.
KEEP
Light and framing are already right
Vertical, chest up, face evenly lit, no shadow across the eyes, and real depth behind you instead of a flat wall. That is most of the battle and it was right on the first try.

One move fixes most of it: rotate about thirty degrees so the award shelf is over your shoulder and the clock is out of frame. Same room, same light, better picture.

How a session actually goes

1
Open the session. It shows you one line at a time. Nothing else exists.
2
Say the take number out loud. One second of stillness. Say the line. One second of stillness.
3
Hit the orange button. It moves you to take two of the same line, not the next one.
4
Hit it again. Now you are on the next line. Repeat.
5
When the session ends it tells you so and stops. There is no next session unless you choose one.

It remembers where you were, per session. Put the phone down, take a call, come back. It will be exactly where you left it.

If you only remember one thing

Session 1 is the whole job. The rest is optional.

Thirteen takes. About fifteen minutes. That is Monday's teaser and all four of launch week. Everything after it can be filmed next Monday, or the Monday after that, or never.
